Grafton County is home ground. Canaan sits in the middle of it, and nine of the towns I serve are inside the county line — from the Lebanon and Hanover end of the valley out to the quiet dirt-road towns north and east of Canaan.
The county covers a lot of different property. Lebanon and West Lebanon are the closest thing to city housing in the area: older homes, tight lots, and drainage problems that come with both. Hanover adds college-town rental turnover and large older homes that deserve careful work. Head the other way from Canaan and you are into Orange, Dorchester and Grafton, where camps, cabins and rough dirt access are the norm and having a machine that actually fits the driveway matters more than having a big one.
Canaan, Enfield and Grafton sit along Route 4 within a few minutes of the shop, which makes them the easiest towns in the region for small jobs — a single door, one loose railing, a mower that will not start.
Pick a town for the local detail, or call and ask — the radius is a guideline, not a fence.
